A BOOK ABOUT SNOWBOARDING
Eytan M. Debbi is a remarkable young author who lives in Great Neck, New York. In his first children’s book, Tommy’s Close Call – A Book about Snowboarding, he has attempted to capture the young reader’s interest in a sport that some can find intimidating. This is the story of a boy who learned to overcome life’s obstacles through the sport of snowboarding. “Being the elders of four boys,” Debbi says, “my father was always the one to get us out there to try interesting new things. My hope is that Tommy will have a similar affect on young people.”
While these books may very well give healthy youngsters the courage and desire to try new things, they can also be of great benefit to the less fortunate children in the world. Through this series of books, blind or otherwise disabled children are now able to experience these formerly unreachable activities. This book is the first part in a trilogy of children’s books the author has written about extreme sports. The remaining two installments introduce skateboarding and surfing, each providing the young reader with a valuable life lesson. Be on the lookout for other cutting edge children’s sports books, including deep sea diving and mountain climbing, also to be out soon.
